Look What’s Buzzing…

Kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year will be held from January 23, 2012 through April 3, 2012 at the Welcome Center. Early registration is encouraged for early placement. Find out more on FCBOE’s registration information page.

Upcoming Workshops:

Susan Sassic will be conducting a parent workshop on building study skills on January 27th here at Hood Avenue Primary at 8:00 am. Susan is the director of the Huntington Learning Center in Peachtree City. She will share ways to build your child’s study skills in order for them to be a successful student. We will be having breakfast items, coffee, and juice starting at 7:45. Come join us for a morning of learning.
On February 3rdat 9:00 am, Mrs Yeargin and Mrs Battaline, our technology personnel, will be demonstrating Classworks, Book Flix, Study Island, Fastt math (for 2nd graders) and Brain Pop Jr to the parents and all the logins and passwords to access the programs at home. We could also give a list of recommended reading and math websites to offer additional practice at home.
On February 23 at 8:00 at HAPS, Winkie Greenhaw, a retired counselor from the Fayette County school system will be conducting a workshop on the importance of parent engagement with the school and the impact that it has on the student’s life. She is very experienced in working with parents and has conducted many parent workshops all over the metro Atlanta area.
